Key Points

  • Year 7 Camp at Cataract Activity Centre was a fantastic experience, fostering lasting memories, strong friendships, and personal growth.
  • Activities included: Mud Challenge, Flying fox, Caving and Archery providing diverse opportunities for students to push their boundaries and work together.
  • Over the two days, Year 7 learned more about eachother, created lasting memories, made new friends and worked together to conquer fears and challenges.

This year our Year 7 camp was at the Cataract Activity Centre, and it was an unforgettable adventure filled with excitement, teamwork, and personal growth.  The Year 7 Camp is always a special activity, which provides our new students with the opportunity to connect with each other as a year group and form strong social connections with each other.

Our students enthusiastically participated in all activities on offer. During an exhilarating session of archery, students learned to aim for the bullseye while encouraging each other to improve their skills. This activity not only sharpened our focus but also set the tone for the challenges that lay ahead.

Caving was one of the highlights of camp, as we navigated through the mysterious underground tunnels, squeezing through tiny gaps and exploring caverns. The sense of camaraderie that developed during this activity was incredible. Students worked together to conquer fears, support one another through tight spots, and celebrate each small victory along the way.

The flying fox provided an adrenaline rush as students leapt into the air and soared through the sky. This thrilling experience pushed many students out of their comfort zones, but the cheers and encouragement from fellow peers made it an empowering and memorable moment.

Challenge Valley brought out the competitive spirit in everyone. The various obstacles and team-building activities tested our problem-solving skills, communication, and cooperation. Through laughter and shared challenges, students built stronger bonds and learned the value of working together towards a common goal.

One of the unexpected highlights was encountering the resident goanna during our time at camp. The sight of this majestic creature added a touch of nature’s wonder to our experience, reminding us of the beauty and diversity of the Australian landscape.

As night fell, we embarked on a thrilling spotlight game, exploring the campgrounds in search of our opponents, while relying on trust and communication. The darkness added an extra layer of excitement to the adventure, making it an unforgettable evening.

The bus trip back to school was filled with laughter, stories, and a sense of accomplishment. We reflected on the challenges we had overcome, the friendships we had forged, and the memories that would stay with us forever.

Throughout the duration of camp, Year Advisors and teachers were happy to report that students consistently exhibited positive attitudes, respect, and a strong sense of responsibility.  Thank you to our teaching team who made Year 7 camp possible: Mrs Lees, Ms Corry, Ms O’Farrell, Ms Hondronikolas, Ms Blackburn, Mr Breen and Mr Dellagiacoma.

Thank you to our students and staff for their enthusiasm and making the Year 7 camp a huge success!
